Activities The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library take on a wide variety of activities, all designed in one fashion or another to support and advance the Library. We keep an active list of volunteers, some of whom volunteer for a particular project and others who volunteer where needed. If you would like to become a member of the Friends of the Library and an active volunteer, contact us.
To form a reading club or to start a guy’s group, a teen group, or any other reading group contact Deanne Perreault at dperreault@cranbrookpubliclibrary.ca.
The Library Travelogue series occurs twice a year, in the late fall and early spring. These are not you average tourist slideshows that you remember sleeping through at your friend’s place. Se the world through the eyes of a hiker, climber, kayaker, free spirit and more! Venture off the beaten path to places you have never even dreamed of. This series has been running since 1990 and has developed a loyal following of adventuresome souls and a committed cluster of presenters. The events are put on by volunteers and the entrance is by donation. The money collected goes to building the travel portion of the Cranbrook Public Library collection. If you are interested in presenting a travelogue, contact us.
This programme is another way the Friends of the Library contribute to the growth of the Cranbrook Public Library collection. As you well know, magazine purchases are a substantial item these days. The Adopt-A-Magazine programme encourages potential library supporters to take out a subscription in the name of the Cranbrook Public Library. A tax deductible receipt will be given for the subscription. This support is recognized with a book plate on the cover of each issue of that magazine, providing excellent recognition for businesses and memorial gifts. The Friends are always looking for more donors for this programme. This is another activity that requires volunteer work for a short period of time in January and February. For more or this programme, contact us. |
